This 1993/94 Porsche 964 Speedster is a very rare car that is believed to be one of only 14 right hand drive cars in the world out of a total production of 936. Porsche intended building 3000 of these cars back in 1993/94 to celebrate the 40th birthday of the first speedster (Christophorus 03/93). The world was in the grips of a correction and with Porsche in financial difficulty, the very high cost of production of these hand built limited edition 911’s and the very high sale price saw demand drop and consequently production ceased earlier.
All cars produced were narrow body (other than a few cars that were produced at great cost through the special wishes department). The 911/964 speedster was 85% re-engineered and other than having more power (250HP) it also had better handling (coil sprung instead of the old torsion bar), ABS brakes & finally a safer body structure. I have owned the car since 2004. There is something special about these old 911 air cooled cars where no expense was spared in the quality of the parts and build. The sound of the engine is so fantastic… This car is a Hamiltons Australian delivered matching numbers car in light weight trim “clubsport” with full service books and is the last in the line of air-cooled Speedsters produced for sale to the public. Car has lived a pampered life.
