2008 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Auto

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti was the first Ferrari Grand Tourer with the ability to seat four adults in

comfort. Its design, especially the strident side scallops and headlights, pays homage to the

coach built 1954 375 MM. The 612 was produced at Ferrari’s Carrozzeria Scaglietti plant, the

former home of the car’s namesake coachbuilder in Modena Italy.

The 612 was Ferrari’s second all-aluminium vehicle and comprised of a spaceframe chassis

manufactured in conjunction with Alcoa, that was a combination of extrusions and castings to

which the body was welded. The same chassis formed the basis of Ferrari’s 599 GTB flagship

Grand Tourer. The front, mid-mounted, V12 powerplant was shared with the 575 Superamerica.

The 612’s V12 5.7 litre developing a healthy 533bhp which produced impressive performance

figures. The Scaglietti could reach 62mph in just 4.2 seconds and go on to a top speed of

195mph. A total of just 3,025 examples were manufactured between 2004 and 2011, making this

vehicle truly collectible and an appreciating asset.
